Home Sweet Home

So yesterday evening I went and signed my lease. I got the keys, and went over there and did a little cleaning. I think I had mentioned before that these are the duplexes that my Mema lived in before she went to the nursing home. Hers was always so neat and clean, and I always felt very much at home there.

Well my new house, I have to be honest I didn't feel was quite so homey. In fact, I got kind of upset. It's old, outdated, I have a neighbor down the street who thinks it's cool to park on the grass...these are just a few of the things that started to bother me. The home that Nathan and I had I absolutely loved. It was big, beautiful and my most favorite house we had ever lived in.

But I started thinking, and for one thing, this is temporary. I don't want to live there forever. This is a means to which will help me save more money so that I can afford to be in school and not to also have to work. This will probably even motivate me even more to keep working hard!

And most importantly, a house is not defined by four walls. It is defined by the people in it. It is made up of memories and the good things that happen inside those four walls. Anyone can have a house, but not everyone has a home.

I sat down on my carpet last night and just prayed that God would bless this house, and help us to make it a home. That the things that come in and out of the house would bless our family, and you know...I know God will. I have nothing to fear, nothing to worry about, and nothing to be sad about.

I know now why my Mema's house was so cute. It was because of the love that was inside that home. And me and my kids have that too.

So now, I am excited to do some things, and get it decorated and make it our own place.

Oh my word I UNDERSTAND this! As you know I moved 1200 miles when I left so I only took what I could fit in s 17ft uhaul. I also packed the kids stuff first so whatever I could fit in after that was bonus. I left a house to move into an apt with 3 kids! At first I was sad because I left SO much but it wasn't long that I felt peace in MY home. Something I didn't realize wasn't there for so long:-( It has been 8 months now and hopefully when things are taken care of in court next week I can look into buying a home. You will make this a home with your children and you will love it...I believe that:-D

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! I hope that the move is smooth and everything falls right into place. Yay for John and Sheila-that is SO awesome and I know that will take a great load off you (literally!) I KNOW God will bless that house, the love, and the memories that will soon be made. You are walking in His will and He will never leave you. Home is where the heart is, right?! :)

I guess that means I need your address again, so if you could e-mail again with the new one, that would be great! Blessings on the future~

I just have to say that I love reading your blogs.
How true is that? That not everyone has a 'home'. A nice, fancy, big house doesn't make a home. It's what's contained within. You are awesome for helping me realize that. Thanks Larissa.

I bet Madi will draw some really pretty pictures to put up on the walls of your new home!! She will make it a home for you!! I'm glad you will be in Slaton, I can see yall more. And you can go to the nursing home when we go, it's a lot easier with more people there! I can't wait to see what you do to your place. You are so creative, you will make it nice.

I'm so thankful that things are working out so well for you! Living in the same town as your parents is great! My parents are minutes away, and I love it!

You're in my prayers! You should win an award for moving with 2 kiddos and one on the way...not just once, but twice:) You're amazing:)
